THE grisly fate of the bulls at this year’s San Fermin festival in Pamplona have been revealed.
Each day of the iconic fiesta sees the animals chase runners from the city’s corral to the bull ring, where they are then killed by matadors.
Many visitors take part in the running of the bulls, which lasts from July 6 to July 14, but few stick around to witness the bulls’ grisly deaths later in the day.
Campaigners have likened the San Fermin bullfights to torture and have called for it to end.
Marta Esteban of Animal Guardians said: “Most only go to the running,they probably don’t even now that there are bullfights.
“Some go and come out shortly after, disgusted,” she continued.
“The running of the bulls is cruel enough, according to veterinarian studies. Bulls are not built to run and this causes a lot of harm to their bodies, not to talk of the injuries when they fall, and the stress and fear.
“But worse awaits for them in the ring in the evening.”
